Update on Reclaiming the Sabbath at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Spring, Texas.  As reported last month, we have consistently had some thirty members of the congregation attending the training classes. We have now pass the half-way mark.  The training will be completed in the second week of the Easter season.  At that point, the Elders of the congregation, together with the pastors, will be choosing a core-group of 12-15 who will continue to meet to process what has been presented and to make decisions about how to utilize the material for the other members of the church.

We at CrossTies and the Elders at Resurrection initially decided that this is not simply another program. It is a process that requires prayerful meditation upon the Scriptures, considerable prayer and mutual sharing. Out of this process we all believe the Holy Spirit will lead us to new and fruitful ways by which the members of the congregation can begin to reclaim the important lessons and guidance in the Scriptural teaching about the Sabbath.

The process will continue through the coming year 2003, while Resurrection's senior Pastor Steve Sohns is on a four-month sabbatical.  If you or anyone you know would like to learn more about the process or would like to introduce it to your congregation, please drop me a note.

Our Annual Meeting will be held this Saturday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Spring, Texas, 9:30 a.m. At this meeting members will receive a reports on the past year's activities and our financial status.  Members will also elect certain members of the new Board of Directors.  You are most welcome to attend. Following the general meeting, the Board of Directors will have their monthly meeting.

In a few weeks we will celebrate again that Queen of all Christian Feasts, the Resurrection of our Lord Christ. May that celebration and all that it means bring unending joy to you and to those whom you love as you celebrate in the knowledge that He lived and died for us and rose again on the third day.

Dr. Alvin H. Franzmeier
